Behind every Cozy Basket is a design process — and honestly, it’s one of my favourite parts of the entire business. Curating a basket is very similar to designing a space: it’s all about balance, personality, warmth, and intention.
Here’s what goes into it:
1. We start with the purpose.
Is this basket meant to celebrate? Comfort? Welcome? Congratulate? Each one begins with the feeling we’re trying to create.
2. Then we find the vibe.
Moody? Cozy? Minimalist? Rustic? Luxurious? Once we lock in the vibe, the entire basket starts to take shape.
3. Next comes the selection.
This is where the magic happens. We choose items that complement each other — matching textures, calm scents, warm colours, and pieces that feel good to hold. Nothing random. Nothing last-minute. Every item is chosen with intention.
4. We support local whenever possible.
There’s something incredibly soulful about including local items. Alberta makers put so much heart into what they create — their candles, soaps, treats, textiles, and ceramics bring a warmth you just can’t get from mass-produced items.
5. We curate for flow.
Just like styling a shelf or a coffee table, everything needs to visually “flow.” The heights, the colour palette, the placement — it all matters. Opening the basket should feel like unwrapping a little world.
6. We make sure it feels like a gift.
The packaging, the textures, the aesthetic — we want the unboxing moment to feel special, memorable, and genuinely exciting.
Curating the perfect basket is part creativity, part intuition, part design theory, and part love. The goal isn’t just to make something pretty — it’s to create something meaningful that brings comfort, joy, and connection.
That’s what makes a Cozy Basket truly cozy.
